We have a Caterpillar 966 at our worksite, and I've spent a fair time using it. Its spacious cab reduces fatigue during long shifts, and the visibility is commendable. However, I occasionally notice some wear in hydraulic components upon inspections. Maintenance is essential but manageable.

Worked with the 966 on some pretty busy loading sites, mostly hauling rocks or working general cleanup. The machine holds up okay, gives solid performance even when we're running full loads. One of the things I like is you don’t get a lot of bounce or tipping, stays stable even when you’re moving 8 tons in the bucket. Maintenance costs are a bit up there, but that’s sort of to be expected with gear this size. Reliability’s not really ever been a problem for us, starts up and doesn’t really throw weird faults. Wouldn’t say the controls are the smoothest-feels a little old school at times, but it does what I need it to do. Comfort is pretty okay, no complaints from my back after long shifts. Would've liked to pay a bit less for the machine, but it’s tough to beat if you need productivity.

I've used the Caterpillar 966 GC for a few months now. The fuel-saving features are decent but don't eliminate the consumption concerns completely. Maintenance access from ground level is a time saver. However, the comfort could be better during long hours. Overall, it's reliable and gets the job done.

I had the opportunity to operate the Caterpillar 966H for a project. The cab provides comfort, especially the air conditioning system which works exceptionally even in high temperatures. One downside is the lack of sideview mirrors, which would enhance visibility. The performance of the hydraulic transmission system stood out to me, making operation smooth. Overall, a reliable machine for various tasks.

I've used the Caterpillar 966G for a series of heavy-duty projects, and overall, it performs just fine. The hydraulic system ensures smooth operation; however, maintenance can be time-consuming because some parts are hard to access. The cab is comfortable, though the design may not appeal to everyone's preference. Visibility is decent for general tasks. Despite some minor issues, it's reliable when well-maintained.

I've operated the Cat 966G a few times now, and here's my take: Mechanically, it feels robust, which I need in my line of work. The cab has enough room, and visibility is adequate for site activities. Handling the transmission is straightforward, although response times could slightly improve. For operation, the hydraulic power impressed me; it's unwavering even under heavy loads. Tires and wear parts on this unit seem to have plenty of life ahead, which is a definite plus.

Just spent a week working with the Cat 966M, and it’s decent. The fuel efficiency is definitely noteworthy compared to older models I’ve driven. Technology integration like the Cat Connect system is convenient, although I found the touchscreen a bit finicky in gloves. Visibility from the cab with the rear camera and mirrors is fantastic-important for crowded sites. Accessibility for servicing is clearly thought out, minimizing downtime. Not perfect, but a capable machine for sure.

I’ve operated the 966K over several months, and it’s largely delivered as anticipated. The versatility in handling multiple attachments stood out, simplifying task transitions. The hydraulic operations were seamless but ensuring regular maintenance is crucial to avoid minor hitches. A commendable machine suited for heavy-duty tasks, but remember: upkeep is key.

I've had the opportunity to work with the Caterpillar 966H, and overall, it's a robust machine for heavy-duty tasks. The hydraulic system is quick and responsive, allowing for efficient operations. The cab design is spacious and ensures visibility, critical for safety. However, maintaining consistent bucket alignment can sometimes take a bit more effort, but it's manageable once accustomed. For general use, it performs adequately in most conditions.

I’ve had the opportunity to operate the Caterpillar 966M on multiple sites, and overall, it’s a solid loader. The enhanced engine power compared to the previous model really shows during heavy-duty tasks. However, despite Caterpillar’s claims of an exceedingly comfortable cab, I did feel the vibrations during longer shifts more than I’d expect. The joystick controls are precise, though they took me a bit to get used to. Maintenance access is efficiently designed, making routine checks straightforward.
