Размеры между центрами и над станиной достаточно велики, чтобы обрабатывать крупные заготовки. Для передачи вращения использован клиноременный вариатор, имеющий 10 фиксированных скоростей для удобства переключения. Меняют их, не выключая мотор.
Полезная особенность станков — возможность поворота передней бабки вокруг вертикальной оси. Благодаря чему можно закреплять на планшайбе (входит в комплект) и обтачивать заготовки диаметром больше, чем размер над станиной. При этом ключевое значение приобретает конструкция подручника. Он имеет три степени свободы и собран из массивных литых деталей; все это позволяет пользоваться опорой и при точении сбоку станины. В некоторых случаях пригодится и возможность передвинуть переднюю бабку вдоль станины.
